On occasion, patients present with a sudden decline in kidney function, necessitating seeing a Nephrologist. This type of condition may be seen in the office but if severe, may require a hospital visit and admission to manage the patient, both in the diagnosis and treatment, including the possibility of needing temporary dialysis.
